Supernatural fans, ever wonder why the boys are named Winchester? Not only is it a brand of gun but there’s a famous ghost story that goes with it
Sarah Winchester, wife of the gun-maker William Winchester, visited a medium after her husband died of tuberculosis. She was told that the family was cursed and being haunted by people who had been killed with Winchester rifles. The psychic said the ghosts could be appeased if she built a house for them. “Never stop building,” she was told “or you’ll die”
For the next 38 years she had construction going on the home 24 hours a day

Each night she held a seance to ask the ghosts what to build next. Because she let the dead design much of the house the layout doesn’t always make sense
There are staircases that lead to ceilings

doors that open onto walls

and one that leads to a two story drop off

Sarah Winchester slept in a different room every night hoping the ghosts wouldn’t be able to find her. In 1922 she died in her sleep

Thanks for the plot

See I do not get it. She kept building because it would “confuse” the ghost into getting lost in the house…….yet ghosts can walk though walls. Did not think this one though winchester.

I’ve never found any proof that Sarah Winchester was trying to confuse the ghosts with the house’s layout. It’s a popular theory, and it’s entirely possible that was part of her plan, but there aren’t any first hand accounts of her having said this. She rarely explained her design choices and didn’t keep a diary so it’s impossible to pin down her motives. We know for a fact that she consulted spirits about the design, which is why I included that bit. Another theory is that the house design is crazy simply because she didn’t put any thought into it and made random decisions just to ensure there was always enough work to keep the builders going.

The CW series is adding Carrie Cutter (a.k.a. Cupid) to season three and EW can exclusively report that Supernatural alum Amy Gumenick has been cast in the role. As in the comics, Cupid will be a lethal villainness with a dangerously obsessive crush on The Arrow.

Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg created the character during his run on the Green Arrow/Black Canary comic book series. “I always loved the idea of Green Arrow having a crazed fan,” Kreisberg told EW. “When I was writing the comic book, my big goal was to create a villain who would last. Cupid has since appeared in the DC Nation shorts on Cartoon Network, and to have her fight our TV Arrow is so much more than I ever could have hoped for the character.”

Expect to see Cupid debut in the sixth and seventh episodes. (x)
